I visited my parents this morning & after washing dad I was in the kitchen,when I suddenly heard someone start singing: "Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag"!!
To my absolute surprise & delight it was my dad
He has very little communication now,just occasionally Yes/No, so I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing & seeing.His face was lit up,(from just a blank mask),waving his arms & when I started joining in & dancing,he started laughing till tears ran down his face.
I'm in tears writing this,because for just a few minutes I had my dad back & how lovely that feeling was
I'm astonished at what he did & have no idea what prompted it,no radio/TV on.
So I'm now looking to buy a songbook with the words of these songs around the time of WW2 I think,cos I've no idea of any words !!!
This experience will stay with me forever & hope that I can prompt him to sing again soon.. Britains Got Talent here we come
