Joint Power of Attorney and bank

Hi! Parent gave sibling and I joint power of attorney. It's not joint and several, we must agree all decisions. This presents a problem with the bank because I live 120 miles away. My sibling needs to withdraw money to do Dads shopping, I have to get travel 120 miles so we can withdraw it in person. This is impractical and means that we can't operate it as if we were him at all. They won't let us have online banking, debit cards or a cheque book, even though his POA expressly states we can write cheques.

I have a business bank account with a partner. We need to sign jointly on all transactions. But we don't need to do it in person, we either both sign a cheque or both request an online transaction using individual card readers as a digital signature.

I'd have thought this facility could be applied to parents bank account which still protects funds but allows us to operate it but have been told 'we don't have that facility'.

Now the pandemic has complicated things further. Presently, it's costing me a fortune going down there for basic everyday banking but if we lock down again, I physically won't be able to go through. As it is, I've run myself into the red during the pandemic to pay for things he needs out of my own money because I haven't been able to go there to transact, and my sibling just doesn't have the money!

Surely in today's day and age there is a way of us managing the account that doesn't involve having to present in person for basic stuff? It seems terribly obstructive.

Any help gratefully received.
